Zooquest: Day 1

The mayor of Bellingham has decided that Bellingham needs a zoo! He has chosen your class to help him design the zoo. He wants the zoo to be an interesting and exciting place so that people will come from all over the world to see it. Of course, he wants it to be a safe place for everyone, too. It is important to him that the habitat for the animals be the same as their natural habitat. He would like to start with an exhibit area that shows animals of the Northwest. He has chosen 10 animals that might be part of the exhibit. He would like you choose four of the animals, tell him why you think they would be good for the zoo, and tell him what that animal would need to survive in a zoo. Is your team ready for the job? Look at the list of the animals below. Click on the name of each animal to see a picture of it and read about each one.

Raccoon

Opossum

Black bear

Beaver

Porcupine

Cougar

Gray wolf

Bald eagle

Garter snake

Blue heron

Once you have finished looking at the animals and reading about them, you're ready to go on to
Day 2!
