Gray Wolf

Gray Wolf Recovery website

The den of a wolf may be in a cave, a hollow tree trunk or a hole in the ground dug by the wolf. They eat small animals, birds and berries. Wolves live in packs of 8 to 20 wolves. The pack lives in a territory where they hunt for their food. Their territory can range from 30 miles to 800 miles in search of food. If they are hunting in a pack, they can also attack larger animals. Wolves are scared of people and try to stay away from them. Because wolves sometimes hunt sheep, cows or other livestock, people have killed large numbers of wolves. Gray wolves are now an endangered species, which means that we need to protect them to make sure that they will not die out.
