Opossums sleep in the day and move around at night, so they are nocturnal. They live in trees and in burrows on the ground. They use their tails to help them climb trees. They have 50 teeth and they are omniverous, which means they eat both plants and animals. They love to eat bugs! They also eat snails, mice, berries, and corn or other vegetables. Their babies live in a pouch on the mother's body for two months after they are born before they can move around on their own. Opossums are gentle creatures, but they will hiss, growl, or show their teeth when they are scared. When they think they are in danger and they can't get away, they will pretend to be dead. |
