Hi my name is Merry and I am living in the new world. I moved here when I was 4 and a half years old, but right now I am 11. I live in a little house by the sea. I have one mother and one father and a little sister. She is 3 years old.
When I get up in the morning I roll my bed up in a ball and then I get dressed. I wear a lot of thing: apron, a pocket, and shoes. Then I go into the kitchen. Mom is there cooking oats and bread with butter. I set the table. I put the food, clean cloths, bowls and spoons on the table. After breakfast I go outside and muck the garden for good rich planting next spring…
Oh wow!! An Indian just came in the village. Indians come in the village to trade beads or necklaces in for corn. Sometimes the Indian kids come over. They know some of the games we play, like tag, or hop the frog. I have one necklace that I got from my friend. It has blue shells around it and a white one in the middle. It is a very pretty necklace. But my father does not like it, he thinks the Indians are just homeless people like all of the other men. I would love to live like the Indians. It sounds like fun the way Teaca tells the story. She is my friend, she lives with her tribe. My mom likes the stories she tells. Well I am all done mucking the garden. So I am going to milk the cow.
"Dinner time!" My mom is calling me in. At dinner time my mom sets the table… mummm!!! Well I am going to eat some corn, turkey, and bread with butter, oh yes milk too.
