This is me talking to you!!! |
Hum dee dum dum dum…
Gosh, I love this life: Eight kids, teaching them all, my husband is a lawyer. Oh, how I do…
Dum dum dee dum…
…Oh, hi there! I’m Sarah Michaels. Do you want to hear a little bit about me? Well if you do…
I can only tell you a little bit about me, not everything, because I have to go wake up my kids and get them ready for school. But I can tell you about them a little tiny snidge. Well, I guess you might be asking how many kids I have, so I'll tell you. I have eight kids, seven are boys and one is a girl. I'll tell you my children's names and ages from youngest to oldest. Henry is 4, Peter is 6, James Jr. is 6 but he is nine months older than Peter. Ok now, where was I? Oh yeah, Benjamin #1 is 7, Andrew is 8, Benjamin #2 is 8 also, but he is two hours older than Andrew. Now Robert is 12, and
Annabelle, my oldest, is 15. She 's going to tell about herself more, so if you want to learn more about her you can click on her name!I am their teacher. I teach them history, language and also home ec. If you want to know what home ec. is, it is something like a cooking class where kids (people) learn to cook and bake stuff. I also make bread and cakes as you probably already knew because of how I teach home ec.
You probably think I'm pretty rich. Well I am. My family and I are in the gentry class, which is the highest class you can be in. The gentry is the most influential and educated. My husband is a lawyer and he makes really good money off of that.
Well hi there, James Jr. why are you up so early this morning?
I can't sleep, because of all the noise.
Well we have a visitor here, so run on back to bed now James Jr.
I know you didn't see the wool pant legs and linen shirt that my little James Jr. was wearing, but I just wanted to tell you that I made those and I made my whole family's clothes. Most all of the clothes that I make and the clothes many other wives and women make, are made out of leather, wool, or linen. I spun the linen, flax, and wool yarn from sheep fleece.
James Jr. I thought you were going back to bed.
I can't sleep remember!
Then go get ready for school. And wake up the other kids.
O.K.
Honey I 'm going to work now.
Alright!
My husband needs to go to work by horse or boat. And if I want to talk to my mother I have to ride my horse over or walk to her house, and talk to her face to face. I have to ride a boat (canoe) to get to church. When I'm there and at other public gatherings, I always hear gossip about people.
Well, I have to go. My kids are getting up, and it is time for me to start teaching. You know, I didn't tell you everything about teaching and cooking, but you'll hear more about teaching from Annabelle.
Bye, I hope you visit Annabelle if you haven't.
